Candy is bad (duh) but much like reality TV stars, some are
worse than others, and this Halloween, we’re going to help you point out which
candy is truly terrifying in the hope that you either discourage your kiddo
from eating it, or make sure you aren’t passing out these dastardly concoctions
and spreading their unholy wrath on your neighborhood (that may have been a bit
dramatic).
For this list we are going to focus on the nutrition
information in a standard size or serving, no fun sizes here, as it’s important
to know how bad these candies are even outside of Halloween. Trust us when we
say there’s nothing fun about the fun sized servings of these guys either.
Snickers
We’ll give them credit for some clever commercials over the
years, but have you noticed they try to make you think a Snicker’s bar is a
smart move when you are hungry and not feeling 100%? The only things Snicker’s
will do is speed you up into a sugar induced nap, as 20g of sugar per bar is already
a massive amount of sugar. In addition, the 6 grams of saturated fat just make
this an overall miserable candy to eat.
Twix
Sweet, two bars in one package! Well, not really, all that
means is double the unhealthiness. One standard package of Twix contains 11g of
saturated fat (For comparison, a McDonald’s Big Mac has just 8 grams of
saturated fat) and a whopping 28 grams of sugar. In addition, vitamins are
pretty much non-existent in this bar. All this candy does is play Twix with
your health. (See what we did there?)
Kit Kats
Noticing a theme here? Milk Chocolate is sort of a no-no,
and Kit-Kats continue that truth. One bar (4 smaller bars equals one bar, and
good luck finding anyone who will eat just one small bar) has as much saturated
fat as a Big Mac, and 20 grams of sugar, while surprise, once again devoid of
any vitamins. Pass on this junk.
Skittles
Our first non-chocolate candy, and we put these in here just
because they are one of the most popular candies in the world. Well, popular
doesn’t always mean wholesome (insert Kardashian joke here), and Skittles are
simply, bad for you. 2.5 grams of saturated fat in a non-chocolate treat is a
lot, and 46 g of sugar in a standard bag means all you are eating is artificial
crud and added sugar. I love Marshawn Lynch, but I have to disagree with the
benefits of Skittles. Give these a stiff arm this Halloween.
Nestle Crunch Bars
Puffed Rice in chocolate once again doesn’t seem like it
would add up to much calorie wise, but a standard bar will set you back 220
calories, while also giving you 7g of saturated fat, which is almost as much
as, and here it is again, a Big Mac. 24 g of sugar doesn’t help much either,
and while your eating one of these, don’t forget they have no vitamins
whatsoever. Yeah, we’ll say no thanks to the crunch bar.
There you have it, 5 of the worst Halloween candies to pass out, and sadly, there are more we could add to this list. There is good news though, check back later for 5 healthier treats to pass out this Halloween, and you can insure you’ll have more treats than tricks this year!

If your kiddo does happen to have one of these candies, it’s
not the end of the world by any means, but they can learn more about nutrition
and burn off some of the Halloween candy at a Jordan Kent Skill Camp this year!
